ABOUT
A native of Lexington, KY, is passionate, energetic, creative, dedicated, and sincere about Music Ministry. At an early age, his parents recognized his interest in music when he would take his mother’s canned goods and turn them into his choir. It was then that his parents knew there was something special and unique about their child.
Upon accepting Christ as his Savior at the age of 11, CJ immediately began playing the piano and directing the mass choir at his father’s church. For years, people heard about his directing skills from directing the canned goods, but seeing was believing. It was evident that the hand of God was on this young man’s life, and God had anointed him with the gift of music.

Throughout his teenage years, CJ traveled throughout Lexington and surrounding areas doing workshops and serving as the Guest Director for various Youth & Young Adult Services. At 15, he formed his first group, Foretaste, an all-male group. He wrote songs for the group in which one music in particular, “Faith,” was later recorded by national recording artist Called 2 Worship. CJ later attended Kentucky State University, where he served as the director of the award-winning Kentucky State University Gospel Ensemble.

While attending Kentucky State University, CJ united with the St. Stephen Church in Louisville, KY. It was at St. Stephen where his gift truly began to blossom. He served as the Director of the Young Voices of Praise, Leader of From the Heart Praise Team, and the Assistant Director of the Temple Choir, under the direction of Joe Leavell. The Temple Choir recorded their debut project in 2006, which landed them two Stellar Awards nominations and two Grammy nominations.

Over the years, CJ has been blessed to work with and share the stage with various artists such as Joe Pace, Ricky Dillard, Karen Clark-Sheard, Byron Cage, Maurette Brown-Clark, Kathy Taylor, Demetrius West, Meachum Clarke, and Christopher Ervin, to name a few. While living in Nashville, he served as a member and lead vocalist for Dr. Bobby Jones & The Nashville Super Choir.

CJ has been in the Music Ministry for 25 years, most recently giving leadership at the Director of Worship at First Baptist Church Bracktown in Lexington, KY, for 9 years.
In 2017, CJ made his radio debut, debuting The Ultimate Praise Party, a local radio show playing the best in gospel music. CJ’s radio career gained popularity quickly and landed him the Program Manager for gospel Radio, which earned a Stellar Award under his leadership.

In 2021, CJ launched C Major Music Consulting Firm, specializing in helping ministries, choirs, and groups grow their singing aggregations and churches. He hopes to facilitate others in establishing effective and healthy music ministry, as well as radio programming and music programming.
CJ believes that every good and perfect gift comes from God while living by the motto “The Best Is Yet to Come.”
